Cedric Akbar is the Director of Forensic Services for Westside Community Services, a founding member of Positive Directions Equals Change, a member of the San Francisco Adult Probation Department’s Community Advisory Board, and holds a seat on the City and County of San Francisco’s Community Corrections Partnership as an expert in substance abuse treatment. In his professional capacity, Cedric manages eight reentry programs including the Positive Directions TRP Academy, the Minna Project, the Billie Holiday Center, and HER House. A bond-servant for Christ, Cedric has served the people of San Francisco for decades. While human beings experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. His great passion through Christ is bringing healing to people who have been marginalized by addiction and the criminal justice system. He has helped countless people find healthy perceptions of themselves, overcome addiction, and begin to achieve their dreams.

Carrie Barnes is a community leader and public policy and communications professional. She is an elected delegate to the California Democratic Party (AD17) and serves as President of the Noe Valley Democratic Club, which she rebooted in 2021 and grew to one of the largest Dem clubs in the city. She has managed local and citywide political campaigns, including Affordable Homes Now (Prop D 2022). Carrie earned a master’s degree from Berkeley where she focused on labor policy. Before Carrie pivoted to local politics, she ran a strategic marketing communications firm working with mission-driven organizations for more than a decade. She believes San Francisco is a city worth fighting for and is passionate about building more housing, leveling the playing field for women, and ensuring that San Francisco is a safe and vibrant city. She lives with her husband and daughter in Noe Valley.

Trevor is a public school teacher who lives in the Mission with his husband Adrian. He was a key strategist in securing and defending marriage equality and LGBTQ civil rights across the country and has served on the Eastern Neighborhoods Citizen Advisory Committee. He was also appointed by Governor Newsom to the CA State Board of Pharmacy.

Supervisor Matt Dorsey represents District 6 on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, which includes South of Market, Mission Bay, Treasure Island, the East Cut and Rincon Hill. Supervisor Dorsey is the first elected member of the Board of Supervisors to be openly HIV-positive and is one of three LGBTQ+ members. Since taking office in 2022, Supervisor Dorsey has made his top priorities public safety concerns, police staffing, the fentanyl epidemic, and increased housing citywide. He currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Supervisors’s Rules Committee and Treasure Island Mobility Management Agency, and serves as a member of the Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee, Health Service Board and Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District. Prior to joining the Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Dorsey served on the command staff of the San Francisco Police Department as the department’s communications director. Previously, he served for 14 years in the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, where he worked to support groundbreaking cases around marriage equality, education access, public health, tenants’ rights and worker protections.

Emma Heiken is a lifelong Democrat and has spent her career working to make San Francisco a better place. From her early start in the San Francisco Mayor's Office to Washington, D.C. and back, Emma has a deep understanding of the ins and outs of San Francisco's governance and intimate knowledge of the issues facing our neighbors and our city. Emma is one the youngest people running for DCCC and brings a new voice to the entrenched issues facing our city. Emma lives in the Mission with her partner, John, and their cat, Tuesday. She can often be seen biking Slow Shotwell, riding the 49 bus to City Hall, and spending an afternoon in Precita Park.

Lily Ho is a public safety advocate, a grassroots organizer, and fearless leader. She runs Delta Chinatown Initiative focusing on public safety measures and capital improvement projects. She was a primary organizer for the Board of Education Recall, and is optimistic that San Francisco has better days ahead.

Michael Lai 赖天宸 — is an entrepreneur, educator, and community organizer. An immigrant, he went to public school in SoCal, studied government & education at Harvard, and has now lived in SF for a decade. Michael has spent the last decade expanding opportunity for every child — he was a volunteer preschool teacher in the Tenderloin then spent the past five years running Tinycare, a network of bilingual early childhood centers that provided housing for teachers. Before that, he helped start Minerva, new global university with 7 campuses. In San Francisco, he has started co-living communities and events for the Asian American diaspora. He loves San Francisco, supported the school board & DA recalls, and wants to create a world of abundant housing, safe streets, great schools, and government that works.

My name is Peter Lee. I grew up in the Haight and I love my hometown. I am the proud father of two young boys and I am a small business owner. I am passionate about public safety for all and a high quality public education for our children.

Bilal is a child of immigrants who currently rents in the Tenderloin, and has dedicated his life to helping others with experience in both the public and private sectors. He is a trained neuroscientist from Stanford, former policy analyst in the Obama Administration, and founder of both startups and philanthropic organizations in San Francisco.

Joe is a nationally recognized LGBTQ+ advocate. He’s helped elect 100s of LGBTQ+ Democrats and allies over the last 10 years - including US Sens. Tammy Baldwin (WI), Catherine Cortez-Masto (NV), and Mark Kelly (AZ). Joe is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma and became a Democrat shortly after coming out as gay in high school.

Nancy is consistently the only common sense voice on the current DCCC. Elected in 2020, Nancy has voted in favor of the DA recall, the school board recalls, and against purely ideological, performative resolutions. She is a prosecutor, mom, and active public safety advocate in San Francisco.

Lyn Werbach believes in supporting culture, making neighborhoods safe, building housing, and ending the ideological games that hurt our city. She’s a mom, a school administrator, and a neighborhood organizer with a long history in sustainability. She leads Central Mission Neighbors and serves on the board of the SFJCC.

Luis Zamora is running for SFDCCC because he believes in affordable housing, improving our transit systems, investing in education, our educators, and pathways to skilled trades, and a safer San Francisco for all. He’s an LGBTQ+ activist, a renter, a union member, and a community volunteer with a proven track record of getting things done and bringing new voices to the table.
